One June 25th a group from our chapter joined with Winston-Salem and others to visit the Republic Locomotive company in Greenville, South Carolina. We were given an informative tour of their facility and workshops and then were treated to being allowed to drive one of their RX500s. The industrial switcher is a two-axle unit with AC traction motors. It is amazingly easy to drive and our members really enjoyed the experience.
