The Greensboro Chapter of the NRHS is proud to announce that it has historical exhibits available for public viewing during the normal operations of the Caroina Model Railroader's display, located in the lobby of our building.
To date we have four exhibits up, plus two sets of panels donated fromt he Greensboro Historical Museum. Our first, and most exciting exhibit is the display of the original steam locomotive bell attributed to a 1903 train crash in Danville VA in 1903 that became famous after it was memorialized in the best-selling song The Wreck of the Old 97. This train, the Fast Mail, was a Southern Railway mail train that ran off a high bridge near downtown Danville. In addition to the bell, we also have a display on our chapter's history, railroad lanterns and other artifacts and also about the Railway Express Agency.
